Head Trip

Yesterday, while browsing art on deviantART, I came across an artist named Shinga. She does a comic called Head Trip. I read a couple on her dA page, but it wasn't until a couple of hours later that I discovered she had an official website for the comics, which contained several comics that never appeared on her dA page. They're a lot of fun to read.

I went on to read her LiveJournal to discover that she is disabled. In one comic, she mentioned she'd be at a con, and that there probably wouldn't be many redheads in wheelchairs, so she shouldn't be hard to find. I'd assumed this was a joke because of the character of Mal (who is meant to be her), and that some of her dA pictures seemed to show her in several poses without a wheelchair.

In her LJ, I discovered that she also uses a cane, and it depends on how far she has to go. Short distances, I'd say she goes with the cane, but for long distances, it's the wheelchair.

I ended up e-mailing her because of an LJ entry in which she mentioned she'd like to have her 17 year old body again because not only did she weigh less than she does now, but also she could exercise however she wanted. I assume she got into some accident, but I really wanted to know what exactly happened for her to end up with the disabilities she has now.

I wonder if I'll get an answer from her. Hopefully I will.
