When is a man...a man?

I've definitely got to post this one blog entry by humon here because it's so true about men and women...and peoples' opinions on both genders depending on what they're into. I can totally agree with this entry.

Recently I’ve been getting a lot of interesting comments regarding gender, and some have accused me of being sexist, anti-masculine and wanting to emasculating men.

Let’s look at it this way: A woman can feel like a woman if she is being the passive/submissive part, she can feel like a woman if she is being the active/dominant part, she can feel like a woman if she is with a man, and she can feel like a woman if she is with a woman.

Men however are not so lucky. If they want be considered men by society they have to be the active/dominant part and with a woman. If they enjoy being submissive in any way they are seen as less manly.

And that is what I’m trying to fight.

A lot of people think that I’m emasculating Finland when I show him enjoying being submissive with Sister Sweden, and some even think he must be gay for liking it up the a** from her.

First off, gay? He is with a woman who has giant boobs, massive hips and soft curves all over, but because she slaps on a strapon all that is suddenly gay? Come on!

Secondly, it was never my intention to emasculate Finland. I actually hoped that showing the most masculine guy from SatW like that would make people rethink what it means to be a man, but apparently it backfired bigtime.

My "agenda" with characters like him and Tom from “Love and Tentacles” is not to emasculate them, but to show that just like there are many ways to be a woman, there should be many ways to be a man.

And yet, maybe I did succeed with one of my male characters: Denmark. I have shown him in almost all situations, from passive to active, flirting with both women and men and being perfectly comfortable with all of it, and yet people still seem to consider him a man. Maybe it’s just because he a silly drunk guy, but it still makes me happy that people are asking, “Is he sleeping with Norway?” instead of “Is he gay?” or calling him sissy boy, and a lot of men have told me that they can relate to him.

So maybe there’s hope.

How many people can agree with that one post? They're definitely some great words of wisdom there. Thank you for that, humon.

Also, I'd like to thank Tumblr for featuring the blog post "Sick fuck...". I logged into Tumblr on Sunday to post another entry to see that it was featured on the News tag. It was totally unexpected on my part. Thanks!
